What does it mean…?

Well, I got the idea for Once Around the Bowl from a few sources as I’ve been listening to more and more podcasts as well as viewing more and more websites (web 2.0 especially) and through teaching and talking with my students.
It seems that every time I turn around there’s at least a good half-dozen new web-based applications available for use. So, Once Around the Bowl and you get to see something new each time.
However, a goldfish in its bowl, classically has a limited attention span too. So, everything is new to it once it does a lap. But a lot of these web 2.0 toys don’t always hold the attention span of their users.
I find that if I try one out, I don’t always go back for seconds - a pity, but it was probably a toy that was not for me or else I haveno direct need of it as yet.

This blog, I hope will try and reflect some of those “Once Around the Bowl” feelings I get whenever I follow a link to something that’s new to me.

Take care,
Fred Boss
